Murphy, Seamus

Associate Professor. Seamus J. Murphy, MD, PhD, joined the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in July 2016 as an Associate Professor and the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Dr. Murphy received his medical degree from Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland. He completed an intercalated BSc (Hons) in Pathology during his medical degree. He completed his residency and fellowship training in Belfast and other centers in Northern Ireland. He completed a PhD in epidemiology and genetics (Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal cancer) at QUB. He completed an advanced fellowship in IBD at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York in 2007. He practiced as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Newry, N. Ireland from 2007 until his recruitment to UAMS.
