Lowry, Mike

Hometown: Cabot, AR

Undergrad/Medical School: UCA/UAMS

I chose UAMS Internal Medicine Residency because: Being a medical student here, I was able to see first hand what kind of program we have here. What has always struck me the most about this program is how collegial everyone is. There are people from all sort of different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds working closely together and becoming really close friends. Combine that with the supportive, dedicated academic faculty and you have the backbone for a terrific program. I interviewed at many “big time” academic centers across the country and found that UAMS can go toe-to-toe with any of them.

My future plan after residency: Chief Resident 2017-2018, Infectious diseases

Something you would never guess about me / fun fact about me: When I was in high school, I was a state finalist meat judger in FFA (Future Farmers of America).

My favorite part about living in Little Rock: Little Rock has many big city amenities without the traffic or pollution. Cost of living is low. Also, we are located centrally in the state so we are never too far from the Ozarks or many of our beautiful lakes.

My favorite place to eat in Little Rock: The Root or Big Orange

In my free time: I like to camp/hike, play the bass guitar, and watch movies.
