Kevin Davis, M.D.

Home Town: Greenwood, AR

When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: Mechanisms of disease and treatment – I really enjoy discovering why some disease presents the way it does or why some treatment works.

Things that make me unique are: I worked 4 years before med school as a chemistry teacher, chemistry tutor, and as a chemist for the state of Arkansas.

I’m not only a doctor, I also like to: Go camping, canoeing, and fishing. I also enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures. Nothing, however, beats spending time with my wife and daughter.

To get myself motivated I think of: All the other jobs that I could be doing that aren’t near as cool. I also think about all the people in the world who don’t have half of what I do and how blessed I am.

The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I’m reading: Something historical/philosophical. I enjoy learning why things happened in the past and how other cultures think. Ravi Zacharias is a personal favorite.

With popcorn in hand the movie I’m watching is: A quality action movie or that really cool looking movie with the unique concept that just came out. Favorites include Braveheart, Bourne Identity, Argo, Inception, Lord of the Rings.

Without a DVR on my cable box I’d miss (or I’m in front of the TV so I won’t miss): Arkansas Razorback or Dallas Cowboys football

On my iPod, iPhone, iMac, iPad, etc. I listen to: Eclectic stuff from John Denver and the Eagles to Maroon 5 to instrumental music — depends on my mood.

When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I want to take them to: The River Market, to go shopping in the Heights, or to a local restaurant like ZaZa’s. The Old Mill is a cool, photogenic LR icon. In March the daffodils at Wye Mountain are beautiful.

I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it’s wonderful and…: It is hard to find a more complete and comprehensive pediatrics experience. Arkansas Children’s is a special place with exceptional people working there.
