Sheila Rupley (Coordinator – Internal Medicine): I am truly a Southern Girl as I was born and raised in Georgia, moved to Baton Rouge, and then to Little Rock in 2003. I have one son, Adam, who graduated from LSU and lives and works in Lafayette, LA. He is a Business Intelligence Developer with a medical staffing and recruiting company. I love to visit my son and family in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Georgia, and take car trips several times a year. I enjoy exploring new cities and areas, reading many different types of books, following college football, gardening, cooking, and hosting parties on my deck. I love when my family and I meet at the beach every year for some much needed down time. I started at UAMS in 2008 as Administrative Analyst, was promoted to Medicine Pediatrics Coordinator December 2011, and then became the Internal Medicine Coordinator in January 2016. I very much enjoy meeting doctors from all around the world and learning about their different cultures and life styles.

Melissa Clapp (Assistant Coordinator): I’m a Little Rock Native and come from a very small family; just parents, no siblings and no other family anywhere close. I’ve worked at UAMS since 1992, all in the Department of Internal Medicine: 5 as a copy editor for the nephrology journal Kidney International and the remaining as an assistant program coordinator in the house staff office. My interests include travel, food, reading, Netflix binging, and collecting various vintage items. Animals are my lifelong passion and I devote as much time, energy and resources as possible to animal-related causes.

Sharonda Hood (Coordinator – Medicine Pediatrics): I am a Little Rock Native. I grew up in Little Rock with one sibling and both parents who have been married for 30 + years. My parents have worked for UAMS all my life, and I always knew I would one day join the UAMS Family as well. I started my journey with UAMS when I was in high school attending Little Rock Central High. The UAMS U-temps was my first area to work for, as I only did summer jobs. After graduating from high school in 2004, I became a permanent employee here at UAMS in 2005. Since working here at UAMS I have grown in many ways and being here has taught me a lot about life and the differences in generations. I can finally say, I have found my home and the department I will be retiring from in the far away future with Internal Medicine. I have a strong passion for helping others and seeing other succeed as well as myself. In my spare time I love to do yard work, attend church, shopping, working out, cooking and photography. I love spending quality time with my family. If I could go anywhere in the world at this moment in time, it would have to be Jamaica because I love the colors of the waters, the scenery, and how peaceful the pictures look. My future goals are to grow and learn as much as I can within Internal Medicine and be the best I can be for the department for years to come.
