Jenkins, Mitch

Hometown: Conway, Arkansas

Undergrad/Medical School: Undergrad – Washington University in Saint Louis; Medical School – UAMS

I chose UAMS Internal Medicine Residency because: I’m from central Arkansas, and most of my family is local and I attended med school at UAMS.   I had a good sense for both the residents and the faculty from my experiences as a student, and the impression of the program on me was of a group of people with similar goals who enjoy spending time working together and who take care of each other — I wanted to be a part of that. I’ve found this to be true — everyone is easy to work with, faculty both help us learn and make our jobs easier, and there’s a great sense camaraderie in general.

My future plan after residency: unsure, but hospitalist vs ID vs cardiology

Something you would never guess about me / fun fact about me: I had a Meckel’s diverticulum diagnosed at age 7!

My favorite part about living in Little Rock: I appreciate the somewhat unique proximity of both good local food/drink and a plethora of good outdoor activities in beautiful areas. There are a lot of places with one or the other but fewer with both.

My favorite place to eat in Little Rock: Height’s Tacos and Tamales

In my free time: I like to Enjoy local hiking, visit the little rock climbing gym, run along the river trail (with my Shiba), read, spend time with family, watch football (if only it were all year…), and play video games.
